Rae Carpenter
Rae passed away in early May, after a difficult battle with cancer, which she endured with her usual fortitude and humour. She had a long association with the Bath Cats & Dogs Home, starting in 1979 when she became a dog walker. She coordinated the RSPCA collecting boxes in teh Bath Area for a number of years, and was awarded in 2000 the Bronze medal for 15 years voluntary service to the RSPCA. She was a trutee of the Friends of the Home for many years, holding table top sales regularly at the Home to raise funds for the friends. She was a regular at the cocoanut stall at the Home's Open Day. She also fostered kittens, eventually adopting a sickly one that she hand-reared and became a surrogate mother.
She leaves behind an aunt, many friends and colleagues at the Home and the Aga Shop, where she was the manageress for some years, to mourn her passing.
A great lady, who made a real difference to the work of the Home and the Friends, and she will be sadly missed by all.
